"The school is a positive and welcoming place....Pupils feel safe in school....." (Ofsted 2017)

Meet the Governors

Joseph Mangar --Chair of Governors & Local Authority Governor

I became a Governor in 2010 and was appointed as a Parent Governor into the Sites & Building Committee as well as becoming the Literacy Governor. I became Chair of the Governing Board in 2016.

I have a building background and previous to this I was in the Royal Navy.

Three generations of my family have attended this school and I am keen that Greenwood Primary remains a high achieving school serving our local Community.

Mr. J. Britzman -- Headteacher

I am proud to say that I have been the Headteacher of Greenwood Primary School for nearly 10 years. The children, staff, parents and Governors have served to inspire me year upon year.  The educational needs and welfare of our children is at the heart of the school I lead.

Whilst my primary role is ensuring Greenwood provides the highest quality of education for all the children who pass through our hands, I also provide the governing board with a professional lead on leading and managing the school.

I have always enjoyed and participated in many forms of sport and enjoy the thrill of adventure sports such as rock climbing, abseiling and sailing.  I am privileged to be able to attend the Year 6 annual residential, outdoor adventure week near the Welsh Mountains.

Nikki Christensen -- Co-opted Governor

I was recently a Year 6 teacher at Greenwood Primary School. I worked at Greenwood since 2009 and have gained a wide range of experiences while here.

I decided to become a co-opted governor because I wanted to continue to make a contribution to the school and the wider community. Becoming a governor has helped me gain a greater insight and understanding into the running of the school, and gives me the opportunity to play a part in making important decisions that will help drive the school forward.

Alan Jones -- Co-opted Governor

I have almost 20 years’ experience working in education, ranging from a Science and Conservation School in California to a small village school outside of Cambridge.  I started teaching at Greenwood Primary School almost 10 years ago. I have taught classes from Reception to Year 6, so I believe I have a good insight into how pupils learn and succeed at Greenwood. I am currently the Special Needs Co-ordinator and Assistant Head for the Junior Department. In 2015, I completed my NASENCo Postgraduate Certificate in Special and Inclusive Education (at Masters degree level).

I have been on the Governing Body since 2014. I am a member of the Teaching & Learning and Resources Committees. I joined the governing body because I want to be part of the driving force that keeps Greenwood pushing forward.

Outside of school I enjoy all things geeky, such as movies and games. I have a passion for Photography and I am currently learning the piano.

Namita Kapila -- Parent Governor

I joined Greenwood Primary as a parent governor in 2014 and I am responsible for being Numeracy governor, Chair of the Teaching and Learning committee, plus, I sit on the Community committee. I have been in education for 17 years both as a language teacher and currently, as a Director of a London-based language school teaching adults English as a Foreign Language.

I became a governor in order to take an active role in the governance of the school and I'm committed to improving the welfare and education of the children at Greenwood. I understand the importance of the local community, and how this can bring people together to provide a happy and stimulating environment.

As the school continues to improve, I'm proud to see the passion and commitment within the governing board, productive decision-making and the strong desire to make Greenwood Primary school the best it can be.

Patrick Mulholland -- Teacher Governor

I have been a teacher for the past 13 years in schools in Barnet, Buckinghamshire and Ealing. I have been a teacher at Greenwood for the past 6 years. I have taught in classes across KST2 as part of my role as PPA teacher. This has allowed me to build up relationships with all stakeholders across the school. I also organise the Y6 residential trip which I feel benefits all the children who attend.

I have recently become a Staff Member of the governing body at the school. I believe that as the staff member I can maintain and build the link between the governors and the staff for the benefit of all.

Out of school I enjoy most sports but especially watching London Irish Rugby club. I have an interest in art and like to visit Art galleries here and abroad.

Catherine Ofori-Atta -- Parent Governor

I have been a Parent Governor since 2014 and am privileged to be the SEND Governor at Greenwood Primary School. I am married & have 2 children who currently attend Year 6 & Year 3 at this school. As a result of my Project Management work in the Pharmaceutical Industry, I bring people, project & budget management skills to the Governing Board & zeal to see improvement in pupil attainment & progress.

As a working parent, being a member of the governing board helps me to engage in all aspects of the school (curriculum, pupil performance, teaching capability, maintenance of the school building, school facilities etc.) and make a positive contribution to the management of the school which I might not make the time or have the inclination to do as just a parent of children in the school.

I bring the heart of a parent and the management expectations of a professional project manager to challenge & support the leadership of the school to make Greenwood Primary a school of choice for parents & children in this locality.

I love to travel, swim, go to the opera and minister to the needs of people in my church.

Fiona Perch -- Parent Governor

I became a school governor because I am passionate about the education, progress and development of our next generation.  As a parent of a pupil who attends Greenwood primary school I am enthusiastic about working with the governing board, to build on the school's strengths to facilitate good progress for all its pupils.  I would like each child to be stretched and challenged to become the very best they can be, in a happy and confident environment.

I am organised, motivated and committed as a governor and I sit on the Resources and Community committees.

In my career I have over 20 year’s business administration experience within the private sector.

Karen Silvester-- Joint Acting Headteacher

I have been a teacher for the past 20 years in schools in Hillingdon, Coventry and Ealing and in leadership roles for the past 17 years. To date, I have been Deputy Head teacher at Greenwood for the past 10 years and been part of the many developments our school has experienced as we have grown over the years. As deputy head I have had a positive impact on teaching and learning across the school and I play an instrumental role in the safeguarding of children as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

I have been a member of the governing body at two schools. I passionately believe in ensuring the children achieve their potential, and promoting high standards throughout Greenwood Primary school. I am passionate about working with the governing body to create and maintain a safe, happy and stimulating environment where every pupil is able to achieve their full potential.

Out of school I enjoy swimming, holidaying abroad and spending quality time with my two young children.

Nathalie Ubilava -- Co-opted Governor

I am delighted to be a governor so that I can empower educational opportunities for bright and hardworking young people. For me, it is a personal quest to translate my experiences, whether learning or working, into tangible outcomes for children.

I offer a diverse record of personal and professional achievements.  Educated across multiple countries, I have first-hand knowledge of various academic practices. I appreciate the impact different cultures exert on educational expectations.

I have spent 5 years in strategy consulting and last 10 years in the insurance industry. My primary skills are financial forecasting, target setting and performance monitoring. These help me greatly in my role at the Resources committee.

Finally, I am a mother of a young boy and, therefore, I have vested interests in the progress of the educational system of which he is a part. As a parent, I take a broad view of education, which also takes part in families and communities around us.  Here I draw my inspiration from music and arts that have profound ameliorative effect on people irrespective of their age.  I play piano and collect books about arts (because I cannot paint).

Lesley Tucker -- Clerk

I have been clerking for the Governing Board at Greenwood Primary since October 2016.

My main duties are to provide administrative support, organise and prepare agendas and act as minute taker at meeting for the Governing Board meetings and panels, where necessary; maintain membership information in accordance with legal requirements and advise on governance, legislation and procedural matters where necessary.
